Steps of Faith Dance Studio
July Newsletter I hope everyone is having a great summer
so far. I can’t believe how fast it is going by. I have been busy taking new registration,
planning summer camp, interviewing teachers, meeting with some of our staff and even planning for recital 2011!
More details on all of this to follow! Summer Dance Camp! July 19th-23rd For the younger ones we will have Ballet / Tumble Camp with fun crafts, yummy
snacks, Bible lessons and lots of learning! For the older ones we have a Ballet, Jazz and Hip-Hop
Intensive. No experience necessary! We will end the week with a swimming party
at my house!
Dancewear Sizing Day! Saturday, August 7th from 10-12 We will size students for the dancewear needed for the classes they are enrolled in.
We will then place the order for you. If you can not be there August 7th, we will size the students
we missed on their first class day. As many of you know, if you wait to order dancewear on your child’s first class
day, there may be long lines. This Saturday sizing day should alleviate some of that. Please
take advantage of this if you can.
Dancewear Pick-Up Day! Saturday, August 21st from 10-11
This is the day you can stop
by the studio to pick up your child’s dancewear. If you are unable to do so, you can pick it up on
your child’s first class day. Fall 2010
Registration If you have already registered-great! If you have not, please consider doing so
soon. Classes really are filling up. There are a few classes that only have a few spots
left. Lots of new people will be registering over the next 2 months as well. Once you register, please read the Parent Information Guide
on the website and fill out the bottom portion and submit it. This is a form that will come to me electronically
and it is a necessary part of each student’s file. There is new information
in the Parent Information Guide. I just update some of it today. Please read it carefully.
It never fails; lots of questions that are asked throughout the year are answered in the parent guide.
It will always be there for you to refer back to as well. Thank you for taking care of this!
Recital 2011 It
is very important to me to always strive to improve Steps of Faith from year to year. I want it to be EXCELLENT
for God’s glory. After recital 2010, I began to immediately plan how I could make things better.
We had standing room only and many technical issues. I am excited to tell everyone that Recital
2011 is scheduled for May 28th at the Julie Rogers Theater in Beaumont. The cost of this theater
is substantially higher than Silsbee High School Auditorium. Therefore, the recital fee due in March has
been adjusted. We will offer a fundraiser though, to help anyone who may find this a hardship.
May 28th is also Lumberton Graduation although
the time is TBA. We should be able to work around this with no problem. It is also Memorial
Day weekend. Unfortunately it was the only weekend date available in May and early June. The
only reason we got a weekend in May at all was because another studio backed out. So, I feel grateful!
We will also have a “staging” day at the theater to acquaint
our students with places, directions and things like that. Each age group will have a time slot with the
little ones coming earliest. They will get to run through their routines a couple of times.
It will be the Monday before recital. This should make dress rehearsal go so much faster and more
smoothly minimizing the long waits. YEA! Fall Schedule I have made some changes to the fall schedule of classes. Please check that
out online. Also, I may make more changes soon. We are offering an adult dance class.
The enrollment now is too low, although a few of you have expressed interest. I will keep it on
the schedule for a few more weeks. So, if you want to take the class please register now. I am also considering adding a Lyrical class. Lyrical can
be described as a slower Jazz style or a Jazz influenced by Ballet type of class. Many of the girls have
expressed interest. It would be open to 11 year olds and up. I need to know who would
actually take this class in order to put it on the schedule. So, if your child is interested, please let
me know. Referrals Most people hear
about Steps of Faith from a friend. This is so wonderful! If someone lists your name
under “referred by” on the registration form, you receive a $10 credit on your account. Many
of you have these credits now. Thank you! Action Shots If you have not looked at the recital action shots, some of them are so beautiful!
I am not sure how long they will have these posted for us to order. So this is just a friendly reminder
to check them out! I would love for them to take these action shots of our children year after year, but
if no one orders these, they will not be able to do this for us. Classes resume the day
after Labor Day, September 7th! I can’t wait to see everyone! Have
